Ever get sick of climbing with guys…
Tired of getting beta from someone who is a foot and a half taller than you…than this is the event for you! A full weekend of fun, yoga, camping, and climbing with adventurous women. Learn from our full staff of female guides who have been in the climbing world for years with experience in sport climbing, bouldering, alpine, multi-pitch, and/or big-wall climbing. Take a deep breathe during our morning yoga sessions which will help prepare you for a full day of climbing, followed by drinks around the campfire. Should be a weekend to remember!
Great for beginner, intermediate, or advanced athletes looking to push their skill level. We split the groups into similar interest/ability levels and aim to climb around 6 hours each day!
$350 for the weekend with free camping and gear rental
This is a two day course for women (including cisgender and transgender) who are confident climbing in the gym and sport climbing but want to make the transition into traditional outdoor climbing.
Day one– We’ll focus on outdoor face climbing technique, rappelling, traditional gear placements and anchoring.
Day two– We’ll learn how to crack climb, hand and foot jamming, finger locks and basic offwidth techniques. In the afternoon we’ll do hands on gear placements and anchor building. Everyone will have a chance to build and critique each other’s anchors.
Price $360 (price includes both days and the class must have at least three participants to go out)
Dates January 26-27 2019
At 14’508 ft. Mt. Whitney is the highest point of the contiguous United States. We take the slower, longer road to get there on this 6 day backpacking trip crossing onto the Pacific Crest Trail into the deep Sierra and all it’s grandeur. We prefer this route for many reasons:
We offer this trip several times per summer between June and October, including a women’s only trip, but can also offer exclusive dates for your convenience (must have at least 2 people to run a trip).
We are excited to announce the NEW national Flash Foxy Education Program!
The Flash Foxy Education Program will offer opportunities nationwide for climbers to develop skills in preparation for recreating outdoors. We will provide comprehensive courses, with national curriculum standards, for recreational climbers to learn safety standards and preferred practices (including technical systems and environmental/social responsibility) across a variety of climbing disciplines. Our instructors are women, enbies, BIPOC and other folks from under-represented groups. Instructors are also AMGA-certified and receive comprehensive training in our curriculum from our Education Manager and curriculum creator, Josie McKee.
Flash Foxy was created in 2014 to celebrate women climbing with women and to be a place where women can come to feel inspired by and connected to each other. In 2020, Whitney Base Camp & Climbing School will be partnering with Flash Foxy to bring educational climbing courses to women in the Eastern Sierra.
