We’re more connected than ever — and somehow lonelier. The spaces where communities used to form naturally are disappearing, and the ones that remain are often hard to find, hard to sustain, and easy to overlook.
SparkAnew exists because we believe the places where people truly belong are worth protecting, supporting, and celebrating.
We call them SparkPlaces. And we’re building an ecosystem to help them thrive.
Every SparkPlace is evaluated through three lenses — not as a rating system, but as a way of understanding what makes a space feel alive.
Does this place bring people together? The best spaces don't just host people — they connect them. Community is the living energy of a place, the sense that you belong here, that others are glad you came.
Do people feel safe and welcome here? Comfort isn't luxury — it's the baseline for belonging. A place where people feel at ease is a place where people stay, return, and eventually call their own.
Is something coming alive here? The spaces we remember most have an energy to them — art on the walls, conversations that shift your thinking, events that spark something new. Creativity is the activation layer of a great SparkPlace.

SparkAnew isn’t a single product or program — it’s an ecosystem of interconnected efforts, all pointing toward the same goal: communities where people genuinely thrive.

However you show up, there’s a place for you in this ecosystem.

Embers
Every member of the SparkAnew community starts as an Ember — discovering places, participating in experiences, and growing within the ecosystem.
Seekers
Seekers help identify and verify SparkPlaces — evaluating spaces through the Connection Conditions and maintaining the integrity of the ecosystem.
Igniters
Artists, facilitators, workshop leaders, musicians, and experience-builders who bring energy to SparkPlaces and help transform spaces into living experiences.
Keepers
Business owners, hosts, and community stewards who take responsibility for maintaining a SparkPlace’s presence and culture within the ecosystem.
SparkPlace is being built on real stories — the coffee shop that’s become a neighborhood living room, the art studio that transforms strangers into collaborators, the community center that somehow always makes you feel at home.
We’re gathering those stories now. Want to nominate a place?
